about us

as climate change shifts our new normal and demonstrates ever changing extreme weather patterns, we strive to bring you resilient food crops & plants hardy to our bioregion (and beyond).

weaving old and new traditions and ways together, re-learning and un-learning, blackbird hollow is an ever evolving entity, from its early beginnings (as hobo crow herbs) sharing herbal apothecary wares at farmers markets across NS/mi’kma’ki, a wild food & herbal medicine CSA, workshops on crafting your own herbal medicines, wild food dinners. ..

and now— blackbird hollow is a place. based on an old clearcut on the bedrock of the north mountain with a crooked little creek that provides all the majority of the water for irrigation (as well as some rain water).

blackbird hollow is a budding off-grid edible & medicinal perennial plant and tree nursery, ever growing apothecary gardens & a space to share knowledge & food. providing sanctuary to plants, humans, animals and wild things, we strive to be an example of how people can grow food nad medicine simply.

we are dedicated to sourcing and trialing hard to find perennial plants, hardy fruit & nut trees, bring back forgotten perennial food crops, and strive to grow and diversify what can thrive and survive. by doing so, we are seeking to build & strengthen low impact, simple systems in place for growing food and medicine. let’s imagine how can we build community, new food systems, and new worlds. . .

offering plants, trees, seeds & advice as to how to start your own apocalypse garden. because let’s face it, food security isn’t going to get much better if we don’t take it into our own hands.
