cottonwood (populus trichocarpa) - a swiftly growing deciduous tree native to northern turtle island (america). they can grow up to 100ft tall, growing up to 6ft per year! known for their extremely fragrant unopened spring buds, the cottonwood is well revered for its medicinal qualities and was a traditional medicine plant of the first nations people. the buds, leaves and bark were used for their anti-inflammatory and respiratory supportive qualities, as well as used for infection and fever.
