forsythia (forsythia x intermedia) - is one of the first flowery shrubs to appear on the horizon in early spring. known for its bright yellow edible flowers that bloom before the leaves emerge. grows 3-10 ft wide with about the same height. tall arching branches with opposite lange shaped green leaves. not too picky with soil, can grow in full shade. makes a beautiful hedge.
