green shiso seeds
perilla frutescens - a slightly spicy (almost cumin-esque) & fragrant annual tea herb. native to eastern asia, shiso is used raw or cooked in different foods, as well as being enjoyed in tea & used medicinally. can be dried for teas. said to be one of the ingredients in the classic seven spice mixture.
we find the green shiso a bit milder than the purple, favoring it for that. it also grows a bit more abundantly (for us in our north mountain soil anyway!), and perservered wildly once established during the drought of 2025.
*safe for humans but considered toxic to ruminants!
