hazelnut (corylus avellana) - european hazelnut, a large deciduous tree growing up to 16’ tall. native to europe & western asia. shade tolerant. great for hedgerows. not picky soil wise but will grow more nuts when tender & provided richer soil. the nuts are extremely tasty & nutritious and can be eaten raw or roasted, made into nut milk, nut butter or into oil. quite hardy & easy to grow. fruits start between 6-8 years after planting. has rich folklore surrounding it, often symbolizing wisdom, protection, and fertility

hardiness zone 4-8

*needs two trees for optimal pollination

currently 2-3 ft tall
** all trees will be sold as bare root saplings in march/april AND oct/nov by pre-order only.

pick-up available in phinneys cove, NS /mi’kma’ki or shipped out by canada post (only in canada)
