leonitis leonurus - wild dagga or lions ear is a mint-family plant native to south africa. there it grows as a shrub, but here in northern turtle island (canada), it grows as a beautiful, bright annual, reaching heights of 5-9 feet tall in one season, with lovely orange spikey flowers that attract hummingbirds & pollinators alike. wild dagga has traditional medicinal uses & is also said to have mild pyschoactive effects similar to marijuana (dagga roughly translates to cannabis).
