cornelian cherry (cornus mas) is a small deciduous tree or shrub native to europe and parts of asia. it typically grows up to 25 feet tall, with beautiful yellow flowers in early spring before the leaves emerge. the tree produces oblong, bright yellow tart fruit that ripens in late summer and is edible, often used in jams, jellies, pies, syrups or juice. the leaves are glossy, oval-shaped, and turn a vibrant yellow in the fall, making them a lovely autumn garden addition. cornelian cherry is slow growing but can live over 150 years. they are also valued for its hard, durable wood and their use in traditional medicine.

these seeds have begun the germination process, and need to stay cold and damp until spring. they can be kept in the fridge with a moist paper towel or sawdust. they can be planted out once the ground has thawed, in pots or direct seeded. Can be slow to germinate, don't give up.
